Special Comparison Between the MagHammer and a Pneumatic Impact Device

Comparative Characteristic

Pneumatic (air) Impact Device

MagHammerô Electromagnetic Impact

Power Source

  1. Uses compressed air requiring an air compressor
  2. Air power is a function of the distance from the compressor
  3. Impact force is effected by the number or items on the air line
  4. Hammerís require constant maintenance including lubrication
  1. Uses 220 VAC, three phase, which is common in industrial plants
  2. Power is consistent regardless of distance
  3. Impact force is adjustable and consistent
  4. Very low maintenance, no lubrication required

Frequency of Impact

  1. Hammer hits rapidly with little adjustability
  2. No adjustment for pause between hits
  1. Hammer hits every second with a 0-17 second pause time adjustment

Maintenance

  1. Due to typical design, the impact hammers take in contamination and moisture
  2. Exhausts lubricants which require replacing
  3. Mechanical springs require replacement
  1. MagHammerís piston is sealed preventing entry of moisture and contamination.
  2. No lubricants required
  3. No springs or other mechanical devices that wear out

Impact Force

  1. Very little force adjustment  allowed.
  1. Force can be adjusted from 0-100% of rated force
